Unilever Employees Help AmeriCares Prepare for U.S. Disasters

  • April 11, 2013

Stamford, Conn. – April 11, 2013 – Unilever employees from the company’s Trumbull Research and Development Center recently assembled family emergency kits for U.S. disaster survivors at AmeriCares Stamford, Conn., headquarters. The kits will be pre-positioned in the aid organization’s warehouse for distribution to U.S. families displaced by tornadoes, hurricanes and other severe storms. The Unilever volunteers put together 500 kits containing Unilever products including Dove soap, Dove shampoo and Degree deodorant.

“Personal care items are among the top needs after  major emergencies,” said AmeriCares Vice President of Emergency Response Garrett Ingoglia. “Our partnership with Unilever has provided us with the supplies and support to have these kits ready to go the moment disaster strikes.”

“AmeriCares plays a critical role during disasters and Unilever employees were proud to provide needed support,” stated Wendy Herrick, Vice President – Customer Service & Logistics NA.

For more than 30 years, AmeriCares has provided medical relief and humanitarian aid to millions affected by natural and man-made disasters, including earthquakes in Haiti and Japan, the 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia and, most recently, Hurricane Sandy in the United States.
