One of history’s longest-running and most intractable humanitarian crises and decreasing levels of international funding of humanitarian efforts has placed a massive strain on the already under-resourced health care sector.
Coordinating with our partners in the region, we have regularly provided access to medicine and humanitarian assistance to address chronic shortages and limited health care resources. Americares aid is distributed to health and social service institutions that include specialized hospitals and health campaigns focusing on diabetes, hypertension, nutrition, psychosocial assistance, maternal and child health as well primary care clinics, schools and community programs.
Working in Gaza and the West Bank since 1993.
Americares has worked with our partner Anera in the region for more than 20 years. Most recently fighting between Israel and Hamas, which controls Gaza, broke out on May 10 and quickly escalated to become the largest conflict since 2014, raging for 11 days until a ceasefire was negotiated. Americares has provided emergency funding to Anera to locally procure critical supplies for the only blood bank in Gaza. We continue to work with Anera on understanding and meeting additional medicine and medical supply needs.
