Our Recruiting Philosophy

Americares recruiting philosophy is founded in three core beliefs: that recruiting should be fair, transparent, and accountable.

Fair:
We actively work to understand and build systems that reduce our bias, so all candidates have a fair and equitable opportunity to join our team.

Transparent:
We provide transparency, striving to ensure that candidates all have a positive experience throughout the recruitment process.

Accountable:
We hold ourselves accountable for the experiences of our staff, partners, and beneficiaries by bringing highly qualified people on to our team to achieve our mission and enable our high performing culture.

Our entire talent acquisition process is informed by this philosophy, and we’d love to share more or answer any questions during the interview process!

The Recruiting Process at Americares

  • 1
Once your application is submitted, your recruiter will review your application and get back to you within 7 days.
  • 2
If you are selected to move forward in the process, you will have an interview with your recruiter.
  • 3
If you are selected to move forward in the process, you will have additional structured, competency-based interviews with the larger team. Sometimes this step is broken into multiple separate interviews and may include an assignment, such as a writing prompt or other demonstration of competencies. The competencies that we are screening for will always be shared prior to these interviews.
  • 4
If you are selected to move forward in the process, you will begin a reference check. This step typically means you are a finalist in the process.
  • 5
We make a decision and extend an offer!
  • 6
Once the offer is accepted, we begin a background check and start the onboarding process.

Please see each individual posting for more details about that role’s specific recruitment process, and reach out to us at TalentCenter@americares.org if you have any questions or concerns.

U.S. Compensation and Benefits

Dear Global Candidates:

We’re sorry that this is currently so U.S.-centric. We are working towards this globally and encourage you to connect directly with your recruiter or email us at talentcenter@americares.org if you have questions.

Compensation

Like our recruiting philosophy, our compensation philosophy is grounded in three core beliefs: that we are competitive, equitable, and transparent.

We post salary ranges for all U.S. based positions, and in cases where a role is available to markets outside of the U.S., the salary offer will be aligned with the specific market. We avoid negotiation within the ranges to create equity across our team, because we know that salary negotiations lead to poorer outcomes for individuals from non-dominant groups and underrepresented communities.

We construct our salaries in such a way that staff can move through the range as they grow within their level. As such, most candidates will start within a specified new hire range. This range will be posted on the job description. We use the feedback and evaluations from our structured, competency-based interviews to inform where candidates will fall within the range, and we are always available to answer questions about our approach.

Benefits

Americares is a global organization, and as such, our benefits packages vary by location. Below is information about our U.S. based benefits package, and we look forward to providing more information regarding our global benefits here in the future.
