In a quarter of a century, we have delivered more than $7 billion of aid to 137 countries. AmeriCares is an I.R.S. registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. You can view our 2007 Tax Exempt Status letter here. The AmeriCares Model Since its founding, AmeriCares has provided more than $7billion of aid to 137 countries. To accomplish these results, AmeriCares assembles product donations from the private sector, determines the most urgent needs and solicits the funding to send the aid via airlift or ocean cargo to health and welfare professionals in the indigent locations. On the ground, AmeriCares works with international and local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's), hospitals, health networks and government ministries of long-standing effectiveness such as the Order of Malta, Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity, Adventist Development and Relief Agency International, HOPE Worldwide, Project Mercy, Centres pour le Développement et la Santé and Help The Afghan Children. Two warehouses, one each in the U.S. and Europe, serve as assembly centers for inventory. In some instances, where products such as medicines or medical supplies are not available through conventional channels and the need is critical, AmeriCares applies funds for direct purchases. Uncompromising security procedures assure that the assistance is distributed to the designated beneficiaries and not diverted-for example, all-inclusive tracking of medicine by lot number and thorough follow-ups. The model is time-tested, cost-effective and experience-driven. Historically, auditing discloses that each $100 in cash contributions enables AmeriCares to deliver more than $3,000 in emergency relief, including medicines, medical supplies, clothing, footwear, blankets and nutritional supplements.
