Over the next three years, in coordination with Watermark, Xylem’s corporate social responsibility program, the company’s team of water and sanitation experts will work closely with the Americares technical experts, Emergency Programs and Global Programs teams to incorporate water and sanitation education and infrastructure improvements into disaster response activities and ongoing health programs.

Responding to COVID-19

Xylem Watermark is a major supporter and partner in Americares response to the COVID-19 pandemic. With Xylem Watermark’s support, Americares will deliver 50,000 units of personal protective equipment (PPE) to combat a global shortage and train approximately 2,500 health care workers in under-resourced countries in infection prevention and control, including water, sanitation and hygiene best practices, to control the spread of the virus. Going forward, Americares and Xylem Watermark are partnering on water and sanitation infrastructure improvements at select health facilities hard hit by the pandemic to respond to long-term water and sanitation issues and build resilience against future outbreaks.

Health and Safety through Water Solutions

Americares core strategy is focused on investing in and transforming local health centers around the world through a range of programming aimed at increasing access to and improving the quality of health care delivery in vulnerable communities. As part of this strategy, we frequently work with health center partners to assess their health facility water and sanitation needs and create cost effective WASH programs to improve the health and safety of patients and staff. Approaching these challenges in partnership with Xylem is making our ideas and outcomes more innovative and impactful.
