Americares Announces Free and Charitable Clinic State Association Leadership Forum

  • April 20, 2018

Stamford, Conn. – April 20, 2018 – Americares is launching a new professional development initiative for state association leaders supporting the 1,400 nonprofit free and charitable clinics nationwide. Americares and Goverance4Good are partnering to launch the State Association Leadership Forum later this month at The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread in Racine, Wisconsin.

“State associations play a vital role in the success of free and charitable clinics,” said Americares Vice President of U.S. Programs and Partnerships Lindsay O’Brien. “This convening will both inform and inspire association leaders and provide a unique forum for in-person sharing of best practices and lessons learned.”

Americares is partnering with Governance4Good to drive the strategic direction of the forum and provide state association leaders with ongoing capacity building support.

“State associations are where the real innovation and growth are happening in the free and charitable clinic sector,” said Governance4Good President Mark Cruise. “I commend Americares for discerning the need and filling a critical gap in professional development and networking for these leaders who are blazing new trails every day.”

The three-day event will convene state association leaders from across the country to address topics such as association management, membership services, lobbying state government, fundraising, board governance, membership recruitment and more. State association leaders will also discuss best practices, identify opportunities for advancement and develop solutions geared toward sustainability.

Americares saves lives and improves health for people affected by poverty or disaster worldwide so they can reach their full potential. In the U.S., Americares is the largest nonprofit provider of medical aid to organizations serving low-income and uninsured patients. Americares provides more than $200 million in medicine, supplies, education and training annually to a network of more than 1,000 partner clinics nationwide. Americares U.S. Program helps partner clinics increase capacity, provide comprehensive care, improve health outcomes and reduce costs for patients.

The Free and Charitable Clinics State Association Leadership Forum will take place April 30 – May 2, 2018, at The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread in Racine, Wisconsin.
