Sadove Joins AmeriCares Board of Directors

Stamford, Conn. – July 28, 2014 – Retired Saks Incorporated chairman and chief executive officer Stephen I. Sadove has been elected to the AmeriCares Board of Directors.

Sadove, a resident of Purchase, N.Y., brings to the board decades of experience in retail and consumer products marketing, as well as extensive board service with nonprofit organizations and publicly traded companies. He joined Saks in 2002 as vice chairman and served as chairman and chief executive officer from 2007 to 2013. Sadove also held senior executive leadership roles with General Foods USA and Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. During his tenure at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Sadove led Clairol to become the number one hair care business in the United States, re-launched the Herbal Essences brand into a $700 million business, and completed the sale of the beauty care business to Procter & Gamble for approximately $5 billion. He is also the co-founder of Traub Accelerator, a division of the retail consulting firm Marvin Traub Associates focused on technology and innovation.

Sadove currently serves as chairman of the Hamilton College Board of Trustees and as chairman of the National Retail Federation. He also serves on the boards of Colgate-Palmolive, JCPenney, Aramark and Ruby Tuesday. He is a graduate of Hamilton College and holds an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School. Sadove also received an Honorary Doctor of Commercial Science Degree from LIM College.

The AmeriCares Board of Directors oversees all aspects of the organization’s global health programs, including its disaster response work and aid deliveries to under-resourced hospitals and health clinics worldwide. Last year alone, AmeriCares delivered enough medicines to fill 14 million prescriptions for patients in 91 countries, including the United States.
