Stamford, Conn. – Dec. 6, 2013 – AmeriCares Free Clinics has tapped Muguette Maignan, RN, of Stamford to oversee its new Stamford free clinic. Maignan will serve as clinic director overseeing the day-to-day operations of the mobile clinic program when it launches early next year. Maignan previously worked for Stamford Hospital in both the surgical and telemetry units, and for Optimus Health Care Inc. in Bridgeport and Stamford. She is fluent in Spanish and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
“She brings a terrific variety of skills to our program including experience with chronic disease management and electronic medical records, along with a passion to help the uninsured,” said AmeriCares Free Clinics Executive Director Karen Gottlieb.
The AmeriCares mobile clinic will make stops on Stamford’s East Side, West Side and in the Waterside neighborhood starting in January, providing primary care services to low-income Stamford and Darien residents without health insurance. Maignan will work with Patient Care Coordinator Saleska Quesada to ensure patients receive quality care including exams, diagnostic services and laboratory work. When it opens, the AmeriCares clinic will be the only free clinic in Stamford where 20 percent of the population is uninsured. AmeriCares also operates free clinics in Norwalk, Bridgeport and Danbury, Conn., serving nearly 3,000 Fairfield County residents annually.
