AmeriCares Partners with Miss India Connecticut Pageant

  • July 31, 2012

Stamford, Conn. – July 31, 2012 – AmeriCares is supporting the Miss India Connecticut Pageant on Sept. 9, 2012, in New Haven, Connecticut. AmeriCares President and CEO Curt Welling will be one of the judges, and the winner will join the AmeriCares Airlift Benefit on Sept. 29, 2012 to see AmeriCares aid programs in action. This year’s 24-hour-trip will include visits to hospitals, clinics and social services agencies AmeriCares supports in Guatemala.

“The Miss India Connecticut pageant celebrates diversity, which is one of our organization’s core values,” Welling said. “We’ve delivered aid to 164 countries in the past 30 years, including India where we have an office and warehouse in Mumbai.”

Pageant organizer Anita Bhat, president & CEO of Diva America Inc., said about 1,400 people are expected to attend the Sept. 9 pageant at the Shubert Theater in New Haven.

“The theme of this year’s event is ‘Unity in Diversity’ and will feature both classical and Indian folk music as well as Bollywood dancing,” Bhat said.

The Gujarati Association of Connecticut will host. For more information, go to www.missindiact.org or call (203) 524-2935.
