  • May 20, 2003

New Canaan, CT, May 20 2003 – Two shipments of cleaning supplies worth more than $80,000 have been sent to Tennessee by AmeriCares where flood waters caused by tornados has driven thousands from their homes.

Rubbermaid donated a truckload of mops and basic cleaning supplies from its facility in Cleveland TN. A second shipment of clothing, work gloves, personal hygiene products, buckets and garbage bags was shipped from the AmeriCares warehouse in Milford, CT.

Both are consigned to the Christian Appalachian Project, active in 13 states and an AmeriCares partner since 1991.

Since it was established in 1982, AmeriCares has delivered more than $3 billion in humanitarian aid to 137 countries worldwide, part of it in flood relief to Appalachia and the U.S. Northeast.
