Accessibility Statement

We want everyone who visits Americares websites to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding. Americares is continuously working to improve the accessibility of content on our websites. If you have trouble seeing content in any area of our site, please let us know at websiteteam@americares.org!

What are we doing?

To help us make the Americares website a positive place for everyone, we’ve been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level AA as the target for the Americares website.

How are we doing?

We’ve worked hard on the Americares website to best comply with a high standard of Level AA accessibility. We monitor the website regularly to maintain this, but if you do find any problems, please get in touch with us at websiteteam@americares.org

Troubleshooting

If you have trouble seeing web pages, the US Social Security Administration offers these tips for optimizing your computer and browser to improve your online experience.

If you are looking for mouse and keyboard alternatives, speech recognition software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking may help you navigate web pages and online services. This software allows the user to move focus around a web page or application screen through voice controls.

Closed Captioning

Closed captioning provides a transcript for the audio track of a video presentation that is synchronized with the video and audio tracks. Captions are generally visually displayed over the video, which benefits people who are deaf and hard of hearing, and anyone who cannot hear the audio due to noisy environments.

Americares video content is in the process of being transcripted and close captioned. Learn how to turn captioning on and off in YouTube.

Feedback

If the recommendations above do not meet your needs, or are otherwise having trouble accessing parts of the site, please inform us at  websiteteam@americares.org and we will respond shortly.
