Headquarter Positions (Connecticut)
We are seeking a part time Nurse Practitioner to join our staff at our Stamford site. Under the administrative supervision of the Clinic Director, and working with a team of medical providers, the APRN will deliver free medical care to a predominantly Spanish speaking population.
The Associate Director will be an integral part of the Institutional Relations team and will oversee a small portfolio of current independent/private foundation partnerships and prospects with an eye to significant portfolio growth. S/he will support the Vice President in the design and implementation of fundraising strategies, programs and activities that enable AmeriCares to generate significant funding from foundation donors, an identified area for significant growth in order to support AmeriCares increasing global programmatic presence. The position will serve as the coordinating lead where AmeriCares strategic program development initiatives intersect with Institutional Relations.
The Development Department at AmeriCares is responsible for raising over $34 million annually in cash and $700 million in Gifts in Kind. We play a central role in the organization by raising funds so AmeriCares can continue to expand its services to those in need. Your primary role will be to provide important day to day operational and administrative support and assist with initiatives that support the effective functioning and performance of the department. End result, you’ll enable them to do what they do best, raise money so we can continue to deliver critical healthcare programming to those in need.
As Associate, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the fundraising and development efforts of the Individual Philanthropy team. The team of five work closely with our individual donors and prospects. Your primary role will be to provide important day to day operational and administrative support and assist with initiatives that support the effective functioning and performance of the department. End result, you’ll enable them to do what they do best, raise money so we can continue to deliver critical healthcare programming to those in need.
The Manager, Marketing and Design Solutions, will help implement the organization’s marketing and communications strategy through creative and visual design, and marketing collateral and sales material development across print, presentation, digital and social channels under the direction of the Associate Director, Content Development. In so doing, the Manager, Marketing and Design Solutions, will bring a new AmeriCares brand voice to life through visual design, targeting current and potential donors as well as global partners and constituents.
The position of Manager (M&E) is located within Technical Unit of the Global Health Program. The incumbent serves primarily as a specialist for monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to promote the integration of the Americares’ monitoring, evaluation, and reporting mandates as per operational plans and institutional strategy. He/she reports to the Associate Director (M&E). In addition to M&E responsibilities, She/he will support program teams on quality program development.
This is a 6-month Contract. The Technical Advisor will serve as an in-house subject matter expert on disaster preparedness and risk reduction. The Advisor will be responsible for leading the refinement of AmeriCares disaster risk reduction strategy and approach, while providing technical input to a small portfolio of global disaster risk reduction projects, most of which are in the design stage. The Advisor will also contribute to proposal efforts, identify promising funding sources, and help review the technical qualifications of prospective team members.
AmeriCares volunteers are a meaningful part of the organization and are integral to our success. Each year hundreds of volunteers work in various capacities at our headquarters or as part of our Free Clinics community program. AmeriCares does not accept applications from individual volunteers for any of our overseas missions. We do, however, welcome volunteers at our headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, to help with project work, administrative duties, community programs, communications, graphic design and special events and we also welcome volunteers at our Free Clinics Program.

...at our Free Clinics
AmeriCares Free Clinics provide quality health care to Connecticut residents who do not have access to either private or public health insurance benefits. The Free Clinics seek doctors, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, primary care physicians, specialists, screeners and translators to volunteer for our clinics in Norwalk, Stamford, Danbury and Bridgeport. Medical liability insurance is provided for medical volunteers and there are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the week. Administrative and special event volunteers are needed to help in our Stamford office. Volunteers can volunteer as often as their schedule allows. Please help us help our neighbors in need.

Emergency Response Opportunities

West Africa Field Assignments
AmeriCares has been responding to the Ebola crisis in West Africa since April, and to date, has delivered over $2.5 million in personal protective equipment, medicines and supplies. In October, AmeriCares expanded the response efforts to include the staffing of an Ebola treatment unit (ETU) with our partner, the International Organization for Migration (IOM). AmeriCares is now working with national and local health officials in Liberia and Sierra Leone to design and implement programs to restore damaged health systems and to strengthen these systems so they are better equipped to both to meet day-to-day health needs and to respond to future epidemics.

Nepal Relief Efforts
AmeriCares is responding to the earthquake in Nepal with medicine and supplies. We have an emergency response team in Nepal now focused on quickly getting medicine and supplies where they are most needed, in order to save lives and protect the health of survivors. We are building shipments of emergency medicine here, at our headquarters in Stamford, and also at our Amsterdam and Mumbai, India warehouses.
Currently we are not sending volunteers to the field for this response. However, we will continue to assess our need for ‘on the ground support’ and this could change.
