    Manager, Recruitment & Talent Support

    We’re looking for a wellrounded HR generalist who can leverage their background in a variety of areas. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Director of Talent Management with AmeriCares talent acquisition initiatives. You will also play an important role in supporting other talent initiatives like learning & development, employee engagement, 2 global HR recruitment initiatives, employment brand building etc.

    Project Manager, Safe Surgery Initiative (Medical Outreach)
    Medical Outreach

    A Safe Surgery Initiative (SSI) will improve access to safe surgery in low-resource settings, specifically it will increase the number of operating room staff that have access to and are trained in the use of pulse oximeters for patient monitoring as a critical component of the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist. The program manager has primary responsibility for developing and implementing a SSI pilot program using our network of volunteer surgical teams, inventory of medical products, the Exchange website, and logistics and reporting capabilities to assess oximeter needs, deliver devices and training, collect related data and report on impact. The SSI will establish a sustainable model for an ongoing and expanded SSI to improve surgical safety, and for subsequent, additional health care quality initiatives.

    The Senior Associate will be part of a highly efficient and motivated team. She/he will be involved in program development, project management, as well as managing AmeriCares relationship with partner organizations. In addition, she/he support our field offices, serving as a liaison between HQ and the Field.

    Sr. Associate/Program Manager, Monitoring & Evaluation
    Monitoring & Evaluation

    The Sr. Associate/Program Manager is part of an active unit that collaborates across the organization to document results for AmeriCares core programs using evidence-based and participatory techniques, while supporting the organization’s strategy to build long-term M&E capabilities. Efforts will focus on the management, interpretation and presentation of data - both quantitative and qualitative- and other duties as assigned. This role supports the Global Programs units in project assessment, design and evaluation. S/he will devote 20-30% of his/her time on M&E activities that support programs and partners in Latin America. The role also collaborates with Development and Communications to provide accurate, timely, synthesized data and program findings to ensure accountability to stakeholders.

    Warehouse Associate
    Warehouse

    Warehouse Associate will be responsible for end-to-end functional operations in the Stamford Distribution Center, a Pharmaceutical Warehouse distributing all scheduled drugs up to Class II narcotics. They will process inbound deliveries of donated and purchased palletized and case goods (medicine & medical consumables), organize & maintain the warehouse environment & equipment, complete outbound orders by picking and packing (using a hand-held scanner), as well as loading/unloading inbound and outbound trucks.

    Grand Bassa Midwife - Nurses Trainer

    AmeriCares is seeking a Midwife/ Trainer to lead in the implementation of health projects in Grand Bassa County, Liberia in the post-Ebola context. The program and the role will focus on Maternal Health Care. The post holder will be working closely with the County Health Team and other local stakeholders.

    AmeriCares focus in the initial days of the response is to support the Government of Nepal and the Ministry of Health and Population in the delivery of life-saving medical services and supplies and provide direct care to earthquake survivors.

    Nepal, Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) Program Coordinator

    Healthcare workers are exhibiting traumatic symptoms, up to one and a half months post-earthquake, due to personal exposure to earthquake effects and vicarious exposure from treatment of patients. To address this problem, the MHPSS program coordinator and the psychosocial support team will provide psychosocial counseling support to healthcare workers in three hospitals in Kathmandu and Bhaktipur.

    AmeriCares volunteers are a meaningful part of the organization and are integral to our success. Each year hundreds of volunteers work in various capacities at our headquarters or as part of our Free Clinics community program. AmeriCares does not accept applications from individual volunteers for any of our overseas missions. We do, however, welcome volunteers at our headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, to help with project work, administrative duties, community programs, communications, graphic design and special events and we also welcome volunteers at our Free Clinics Program.

    ...at our Free Clinics

    AmeriCares Free Clinics provide quality health care to Connecticut residents who do not have access to either private or public health insurance benefits. The Free Clinics seek doctors, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, primary care physicians, specialists, screeners and translators to volunteer for our clinics in Norwalk, Stamford, Danbury and Bridgeport. Medical liability insurance is provided for medical volunteers and there are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the week. Administrative and special event volunteers are needed to help in our Stamford office. Volunteers can volunteer as often as their schedule allows. Please help us help our neighbors in need.

    AmeriCares runs a Summer Internship Program which offers a well-rounded agenda with formal program objectives and expectations. Our program offers an opportunity for students who are interested in global health and international development work the chance to gain firsthand experience in a world-class organization.

    Emergency Response Opportunities

    Help AmeriCares with its Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts
    AmeriCares Emergency Response Program is responding to Hurricane Sandy by providing medicine and medical supplies, emergency supplies, and other assistance to support victims of the storm in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut

    As a result of our on-going relief efforts, we have the following opportunities:

    Nepal, Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) Program Coordinator

    Healthcare workers are exhibiting traumatic symptoms, up to one and a half months post-earthquake, due to personal exposure to earthquake effects and vicarious exposure from treatment of patients. To address this problem, the MHPSS program coordinator and the psychosocial support team will provide psychosocial counseling support to healthcare workers in three hospitals in Kathmandu and Bhaktipur.

  • West Africa Field Assignments

    AmeriCares has been responding to the Ebola crisis in West Africa since April, and to date, has delivered over $2.5 million in personal protective equipment, medicines and supplies. In October, AmeriCares expanded the response efforts to include the staffing of an Ebola treatment unit (ETU) with our partner, the International Organization for Migration (IOM). AmeriCares is now working with national and local health officials in Liberia and Sierra Leone to design and implement programs to restore damaged health systems and to strengthen these systems so they are better equipped to both to meet day-to-day health needs and to respond to future epidemics.

    As a result of our recovery initiatives we currently have the following opportunities available in West Africa:

  • Nepal Relief Efforts

    AmeriCares is responding to the earthquake in Nepal with medicine and supplies. We have an emergency response team in Nepal now focused on quickly getting medicine and supplies where they are most needed, in order to save lives and protect the health of survivors. We are building shipments of emergency medicine here, at our headquarters in Stamford, and also at our Amsterdam and Mumbai, India warehouses.

    Currently we are not sending volunteers to the field for this response. However, we will continue to assess our need for ‘on the ground support’ and this could change.
