    Associate / Sr. Associate Medical Outreach Program
    Medical Outreach Program

    The position has primary responsibility for tracking and reporting on program performance and inventory data, and establishing regular reporting that informs decisions on program management and growth opportunities. He/she has daily duties in the approval, vetting and processing of the majority of routine donations and Zimmer product donation requests submitted on the Medical Outreach ordering website. The associate contributes to and supports efforts to strategically grow the program, realize process efficiencies, improve donation oversight, and develop a major revision of the ordering website and related reporting capabilities.

    The Clinic Director is the team leader. They direct and coordinate the operation of the free clinic to ensure that high quality medical care is delivered to all patients. S/he is responsible for oversight of staff and volunteers which is key to efficient and effective operations. Leadership, organizational abilities, medical knowledge, and a desire to work with an underserved population and volunteer staff are a must.

    Consultancy: Ebola Emergency Response Manager (2)
    Emergency Response

    AmeriCares is seeking Ebola Response Managers (consultants) for the work we are doing in Liberia and Sierra Leone. Positions will be based in-country. We are looking for individuals with experience in infection control, disease outbreak response, and the delivery of humanitarian assistance. The Ebola Response Manager will lead our in-country response efforts in Liberia/Sierra Leone respectively, with a focus on assessing needs, ensuring that AmeriCares supplies are imported and distributed efficiently, and designing and implementing response interventions, including health worker training.

    Manager, Donor Communications & Proposal Development
    Institutional Relations

    Reporting to the Associate Director, Foundation Partnerships, the Manager of Donor Communications and Proposal Development plays a central role in developing content to be used by the Development team for donor stewardship purposes. The Manager develops and coordinates a comprehensive communication process and calendar to appropriately and consistently promote interaction with and recognition of donors at all levels. In this capacity, he/she serves as a lead writer and originator of compelling content for proposals, reports and other communications utilized by staff who manage relationships with corporate and foundation donors. He/she also creates content used by the broader Development team (Corporate and Foundation Partnerships and Individual Philanthropy) including emergency response updates and cases for support. The Manager is charged with coordinating proposal development activities across the organization, working closely with Development team and Program leadership to prioritize and track proposal development.

    Medical Officer or Chief Pharmacist; and Senior Technical Advisor, Access to Medicines and Supplies
    Global Programs

    The Senior Technical Advisor is responsible for enhancing the quality and impact of AmeriCares delivery of medicines and medical supplies to health care institutions in low-resource settings through the Global Medical Assistance Program and Emergency Response & Recovery Program. S/he informs decisions to accept and allocate donated pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, worth over $500 million annually, so that they may be utilized safely and effectively by recipient health care partners in low resource settings in 90 countries. Reporting to SVP, Global Programs, and working closely with the Corporate Relations and Global Partnerships teams, the Senior Technical Advisor contributes to resource mobilization, through the development of funding proposals and project plans to strengthen health systems. In these ways and more, the Senior Technical Advisor contributes substantively to the achievement of AmeriCares five year strategy.

    Senior Vice President of Innovation and Chief Information Officer

    The new Senior Vice President of Innovation and Chief Information Officer (SVP/CIO) will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Michael Nyenhuis, who was recruited to AmeriCares in early 2014. Mr. Nyenhuis is charged with building upon and accelerating AmeriCares impressive record of growth and expanding and enhancing AmeriCares brand and programmatic efforts around the world. The SVP/CIO will be a partner to the CEO in providing technology vision and leadership to AmeriCares. He/she will work closely with the senior executive team to advocate for technology and leverage information systems to help streamline our processes, enable robust reporting on our results, and create technological innovation to deliver new and integrated systems and tools to support operations, field projects and revenue generation. The SVP/CIO will take a leadership position in identifying new opportunities and representing the internal benefit to AmeriCares and the external value proposition externally.

    The SVP/CIO will work with the organization on technology strategy and tools to support mission and program success. Key will be the development and implementation of an IT strategy that anticipates future needs, and supports and expands a standard infrastructure across all of AmeriCares locations. Importantly, the SVP/CIO will work across all teams and programs to meet informational needs through technology. The SVP/CIO will oversee a desktop support, project management, systems administration, database systems management, and networking technology team to insure a sound, stable, and secure technology platform to allow AmeriCares to realize its distinct organizational goals. Ultimately, it is the SVP/CIO who oversees all IT projects and budgets.

    AmeriCares volunteers are a meaningful part of the organization and are integral to our success. Each year hundreds of volunteers work in various capacities at our headquarters or as part of our Free Clinics community program. AmeriCares does not accept applications from individual volunteers for any of our overseas missions. We do, however, welcome volunteers at our headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, to help with project work, administrative duties, community programs, communications, graphic design and special events and we also welcome volunteers at our Free Clinics Program.

    Volunteer Receptionist

    Your primary responsibility in this role is to provide back-up support to our full-time receptionist so that he/she can attend to responsibilities away from the phone and front desk when needed. You may also be called upon from time-to-time to cover for our receptionist when needed for vacation coverage or any unplanned absences.

    AmeriCares Free Clinics provide quality health care to Connecticut residents who do not have access to either private or public health insurance benefits. The Free Clinics seek doctors, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, primary care physicians, specialists, screeners and translators to volunteer for our clinics in Norwalk, Danbury and Bridgeport. Medical liability insurance is provided for medical volunteers and there are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the week. Administrative and special event volunteers are needed to help in our Stamford office. Volunteers can volunteer as often as their schedule allows. Please help us help our neighbors in need.
