AmeriCares launched operations in India in 2006 with the establishment of an office in Mumbai and a warehouse in Bhiwandi.  With on the ground staff, an increased supply of donated medicines, and a strategically located distribution hub, AmeriCares has expanded its work in-country and is better positioned to serve the surrounding regions of Asia and Africa.

Our Intern Program combines meaningful work experiences with exposure to different areas of our organization and provides participants with an opportunity to expand their knowledge of the humanitarian aid/nonprofit industry. Interns attend weekly staff meetings, participate in departmental meetings and are invited to participate in other organizational learning opportunities and social events.

We look for interns who expect to be given responsibility and who take initiative in solving problems. And, we want to work with people who are fun and enjoyable to be around! As an intern at AmeriCares, you will not only have the opportunity to be a part of a unique organizational culture, but you will also have the opportunity to contribute to our mission.

AmeriCares volunteers are a meaningful part of the team and are integral to our success. Each year hundreds of volunteers work in various capacities at our headquarters or as part of our Free Clinics community program. AmeriCares does not accept applications from individual volunteers for any of our overseas missions. We do, however, welcome volunteers at our headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, to help with project work, administrative duties, community programs, communications, graphic design and special events and we also welcome volunteers at our Free Clinics Program.
