Major Hurricane Threat
Hurricane Florence, made landfall in the Carolinas as a Category 1 storm. The Governors of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Maryland declared a state of emergency and residents have prepared for a major disaster, particularly from potentially devastating flooding. Mandatory evacuations were made in coastal communities with warnings of a dangerous storm surge. An Americares Emergency Response Team has deployed to North Carolina and is activating a relief plan.
