Horizon Pharma and Americares forged an exciting new partnership in 2017. Together, we are working to advocate for greater collaboration between the corporate and nonprofit sectors and improve the health of people affected by poverty and disaster—here at home and around the globe.
Driving Better Health Outcomes
Horizon Pharma is a key supporter of Americares emergency response work and U.S. health care safety net strengthening programs that provide increased access to health care to individuals living in or near poverty. By helping us to drive health equity and access and strengthening health systems across the country, Horizon is investing in the long-term health and well-being of millions of people.
Stepping Up & Stepping Out
As the lead sponsor for the 2017 Global Health and Development Symposium, Horizon used its leadership platform to advocate for greater integration of philanthropic and humanitarian principals into business models, partnering with Americares to spread the message. Also in 2017, Horizon sponsored Americares Airlift Benefit and members of their staff joined Americares in visiting program sites in Guatemala.
Partner in Emergency Response
Horizon Pharma is an Americares Emergency Response Partner, providing key resources that allow us to maintain a response platform of medicines, supplies and people—ready to respond in a moment’s notice. Americares responds to an average of 30 natural disasters and humanitarian crises worldwide each year, establishes long-term recovery projects and brings disaster preparedness programs to vulnerable communities. In addition to its ongoing support as an AERP membership, Horizon also contributed to Americares Hurricane Harvey response in Texas.
Horizon Pharma defines success by a different set of numbers – the number of lives touched, the number of lives changed, the number of lives saved. The company is focused on researching, developing and commercializing innovative medicines that address unmet treatment needs for rare and rheumatic diseases. By fostering a growing pipeline of medicines in development and exploring all potential uses for currently marketed medicines, Horizon strives to make a powerful difference for patients, their caregivers and physicians. To date, Horizon has donated more than $9 million in support of communities in need. For Horizon employees, it’s personal: by living up to their own potential, they are helping others live up to theirs.
