Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan Border Conflict

In response to the recent clashes at the Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan border, Americares is preparing a shipment of critically needed medicines and medical supplies to replenish stockouts at hospitals and health facilities serving those who have been displaced or impacted by the deadly fighting. Clashes over the border are frequent and often lead families to become displaced and go without basic health services.

Americares is working with Avesto, a local nonprofit organization that provides psychosocial support and health education programs for the most vulnerable in Tajikistan, to deliver urgently needed aid to hospitals and health centers near the border treating families in need. The shipment, which contains chronic disease medications, wound care products, surgical supplies and other lifesaving items, will be put to use immediately to help those affected by the conflict.
