March 2022 Storms and Tornadoes

Americares is preparing to respond to the wave of deadly storms and tornadoes that struck the southeastern region of the United States late in March of this year. We have identified partners that are in need of medicines, medical materials, and supplies, and we are working with them to ship product as soon as possible. We are still collecting information on the partners and types of items needed.

In response to a tornado that struck New Orleans late in March, Americares is sending hygiene kits and hygiene materials to our partner Second Harvest, in New Orleans. The shipment contains unisex hygiene kits and feminine hygiene kits.

With the growing number and severity of storms in the region, Americares is ready to respond quickly when the storms strike and needs arise. Extreme weather expands the landscape for these severe storms even as we approach the 2022 Hurricane Season

Update: New storms this week are bringing more destruction to the Midwest and Southwest. Nearly two dozen people were injured when tornadoes swept through central Texas as part of a storm system that is spawning more twisters and damaging winds in the region.
