Southwest Airlines® became an AmeriCares Annual Emergency Response Partner in 2014. Through this partnership, Southwest Airlines is helping AmeriCares respond to emergencies without hesitation, and establish an early presence that attracts the partners and resources necessary to sustain a longer, comprehensive response and recovery program.
Every day, AmeriCares emergency response team is active around the world in all phases of addressing emergencies, from monitoring and readiness through response and recovery. Planning and preparation are critical to a swift and effective relief response to a disaster – from earthquakes, typhoons, hurricanes and tornadoes, to disease outbreaks and civil strife.
AmeriCares Annual Emergency Response Partners help us maintain the strong foundation from which we respond to these disaster events. They enable us to conduct in-country assessments, pre-position emergency medical and relief aid in disaster-prone regions of the world, maintain regional warehouse and distribution hubs, and support emergency pharmacy inventory at our headquarters. Together with our in-house expertise in global logistics, emergency medical needs and local health services rehabilitation, these assets enable AmeriCares to respond quickly in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. Through philanthropy and community outreach programs, Southwest Airlines has a history of addressing needs in the communities in which it serves, working with nonprofit organizations focusing on families facing serious illness, the military, disaster preparedness and the environment.
