Isolated Village Gets Crucial Medical Care

We traveled with the NYC Medics team via helicopter to Homonhon, a remote island in the Gulf of Leyte, south of Guiuan in the Philippines. The team treated 130 patients on the island's isolated village of Habag, separated from the rest of the island by mountains and passable only by foot. No one from the outside had been to Habag in the 13 days since Typhoon Haiyan struck, so the arrival of the team was a big event for the entire community.
