Supporting Basic Health Care

Boy at the Clinic

   Who AmeriCares Helps

  • The growing number of people losing their jobs and unable to afford health insurance.
  • Hardworking people in low paying jobs who often must choose between feeding their families and keeping a roof over their head or treating their illness.
  • Survivors of natural and man-made disasters like Hurricane Katrina and 9/11.
  • Communities throughout the country shattered in the aftermath of emergencies and natural disasters.

AmeriCares delivers health and hope to American families who can’t afford basic medicines and health care by providing free medicines and supplies to clinics across the country. The clinics provide primary care services to the uninsured and underinsured, including adult and pediatric exams; maintenance and monitoring of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, asthma and hypertension; vaccination programs, and in some instances gynecology, dental and mental health care.

Our work has helped save lives and livelihoods. The patients being treated are able to get the medicines they otherwise would not have been able to afford. Doctors and health care professionals are empowered with the tools they need to treat and prevent health care emergencies in their own communities. Clinics are provided with critical resources to help them stretch their budgets, which in turn, improves access to health care and expand services so they can treat more people.
