Our Response //

Deadly tornado outbreaks ravaged the South and Midwest in late February and early March, 2012, causing massive destruction, injury, displacement and death. AmeriCares emergency response team is readying shipments of medical aid to deliver to partner clinics as needs arise.

Many of the communities hard hit by the tornadoes were struggling to recover from disasters in 2011—a year of record-setting tornado outbreaks in the South and Midwest, devastating flooding along the Mississippi River, hurricanes and violent tropical storms up the east coast, and wildfires in the Southwest. These disasters claimed hundreds of lives, left tens of thousands homeless, and damaged billions in property. AmeriCares responded immediately and delivered nearly $3 million in aid, along with more than $600,000 in disaster grants to help hard-hit communities recover and prepare for future emergencies.
