Our Response //

Within hours of the devastating March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami—the worst natural disaster to ever strike Japan—AmeriCares emergency response experts were dispatched to the impact zone. Over the next several months, AmeriCares delivered multiple shipments of critically needed relief supplies, and awarded hundreds of thousands in recovery grants. In August, 2011 we opened an office in Sendai to serve as a base to oversee the distribution of $8 million in long-term aid, solidifying our commitment to help the people of Japan rebuild their communities and their lives.
