| August 29, 2005: Hurricane Katrina hits the Gulf Coast on the Louisiana/Mississippi border; AmeriCares relief personnel are dispatched within 24 hours. | ![]() |
| September 2005: AmeriCares relief shipments begin arriving. | ![]() |
| September 2005: The AmeriCares Free Clinic mobile medical unit arrives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. | ![]() |
| October 2005: AmeriCares awards a grant to the St. Thomas Clinic in New Orleans, to aid them as they plan to rebuild. | ![]() |
| November 2005: Eight Sprung structures are delivered to St. Bernard Parish in New Orleans to provide shelter for various relief needs. | ![]() |
| February 2006: AmeriCares donates two Sprung structures to Pass Christian, Mississippi, where they serve as day care centers in the local "tent city" to assist in childcare needs as residents return to work. | ![]() |
