Camp AmeriKids - was created in 1995 with the mission of enhancing the lives of children affected by or infected with HIV/AIDS through a traditional camp experience, complemented by off-season programs. The camp offered respite services to the children and their families, providing campers the opportunity to socialize in a learning environment while exploring new interests, at no cost to the families, and recruited campers from the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. In 2010 CampAmerikids was reorganized as its own independent non-profit service organization, separate from AmeriCares, and continues to provide children and adolescents traditional camping experiences and the opportunities to develop new life skills and enhanced self-esteem. |
