In response to the devastation caused by recent hurricanes, AmeriCares launched the latest phase of our relief efforts for Haiti with a massive airlift of medicines and medical supplies. The shipment, valued at nearly $3 million, includes:
  • antibiotics to help treat infections and disease;
  •  pain medicines for the seriously injured;
  • critically-needed medical supplies to help heal wounds;
  • multivitamins to tackle the growing battle against malnutrition; and
  • IV solutions to rehydrate patients suffering from life-threatening diarrhea.

AmeriCares Delivers New Aid to West Darfur

With the help of many generous supporters, AmeriCares has just delivered our 10th emergency shipment to Darfur since 2004. The delivery contains more than 15 tons of critical medicines and medical supplies to West Darfur and brings the total aid delivered to Darfur since 2004 to more than 167 tons, valued at nearly $5 million. Our staff is working hard to secure additional aid for North and South Darfur, and two more shipments are planned in the coming months.

AmeriCares is one of the few international relief organizations allowed to fly directly into Darfur. Flying into West Darfur, one of Sudan’s most dangerous and hard-to-reach regions, eliminates the risk of delays common to shipments delivered over land. Read more >> Photo Gallery >>  Video >>
