Mobile medical teams have been distributing AmeriCares aid to those affected by Cyclone Nargis.

AmeriCares was one of the first nonprofit organizations to deliver aid directly into cyclone-ravaged Myanmar. We supplied more than 15 tons of critically needed medicines and medical supplies to help the 2.5 million affected by Cyclone Nargis. As follow-up to the initial response, our emergency response team is working to supply and equip a number of planned primary health care clinics in the affected regions.

West Darfur is one of Sudan’s most inaccessible and dangerous regions, making aid deliveries over land extremely difficult. AmeriCares, however, was able to deliver aid directly into West Darfur by an emergency airlift, sending more than 15 tons of critical medicines and medical supplies to Geneina. It was AmeriCares 10th airlift to Darfur since 2004. Over that time we have delivered 167 tons of aid valued at nearly $5 million.

An area in Parkersburg, Iowa, in the aftermath of a level 5 tornado. The tornado hit Iowa on May 25, killing seven and leaving hundreds homeless.

AmeriCares shipped a truck containing more than 35,000 bottles of water to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in Waterloo, Iowa, to aid in the recovery from the strongest tornado to hit the state in 32 years. We remain in contact with our local partners throughout the country to supply any additional aid that may be needed during this unusually active tornado season.
