AmeriCares Strengthens Response to Zimbabwe’s Cholera Epidemic

AmeriCares Helps Zimbabwe with Cholera Outbreak

As the world’s eyes are on Zimbabwe’s political crisis, its people continue to face a growing epidemic. The widespread cholera outbreak has claimed more than 3,300 lives and infected over 69,000 people, making it Africa’s deadliest outbreak in more than 15 years.

AmeriCares is delivering medical aid to treat and ease the suffering of cholera patients. The critical shipment includes 20,000 units of lifesaving IV solutions and supplies to administer the IVs; more than half are specifically designed to treat children. Read more »

AmeriCares Aids Survivors Deadly Ice Storm

AmeriCares is sending truckloads of bottled water and 1,200 blankets to help families recovering from a deadly ice storm that has already claimed 55 lives.

Hundreds of thousands of residents across Kentucky, Missouri and Arkansas are still without power, struggling to keep warm. Families who heat their homes with stoves or use generators for power run the risk of contracting carbon monoxide poisoning. Already several deaths in the region have been blamed on the colorless, odorless gas. Read more »
