STAMFORD, CT – AmeriCares
is delivering critically needed relief supplies to a Massachusetts food bank
aiding 1,000 families whose homes were destroyed by the deadly tornadoes
earlier this month. Despite an outpouring of support from the local community
after the tornadoes left four people dead and hundreds injured, food bank officials
report survivors are still in need of personal hygiene products.
To
meet the need, AmeriCares is delivering over 7,000 toothbrushes, 2,200 razors,
540 cans of shaving cream, plus anti-bacterial soap and personal hygiene kits to

Food Bank Member in Hatfield, Mass. which is distributing food, water and basic
necessities directly to survivors.
AmeriCares emergency response team has been responding
to tornadoes, wildfires and flooding across the U.S. since late April when
tornadoes ripped through seven states killing 350 and displacing tens of
thousands. AmeriCares responded
immediately with medicines,
cleaning supplies, bottled water and hygiene products for families left
homeless. Since that time, AmeriCares has delivered more than $2 million in aid
for disaster survivors in nine states.

America in 2005, Americans in need have received $6 million in over-the-counter
medicines, bottled water, and other relief supplies through food banks and food
