Newsroom FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 'Sex in the City' Star Cynthia Nixon Shops Till She Drops for AmeriCares HomeFrontDecember 22, 2003 Media Contact: Stamford, CT, December 22 2003 - On Tuesday, December 16, MasterCard teamed with one of America’s most famous shoppers, Cynthia Nixon, a star of HBO’s hit comedy series Sex in the City, to create a truly "Priceless" experience benefiting AmeriCares HomeFront®. The event supported MasterCard's “Trip a Day” promotion. Nixon participated in a 62-minute holiday shopping spree at Bed, Bath and Beyond's flagship store in New York City, where every item purchased will be donated to AmeriCares HomeFront, a charity that repairs homes and community centers for those with physical or financial limitations. Members of S.P.A.R.C., MasterCard's volunteer charity and entertainment committee in Purchase, helped Nixon collect the gifts. Each minute that Nixon shopped represented a trip to Universal Studios (62 in total) that MasterCard will award cardholders as part of its “Trip a Day” holiday sweepstakes. To enter the drawing, cardholders simply have to use their MasterCard card from now until December 31. "This event was a great way for MasterCard to celebrate the holidays," says Jennifer Lavelli, MasterCard Relationship Marketing. "Combining support of our 'Trip a Day' promotion with an event for AmeriCares is a win-win for everyone involved." To promote the event, Nixon was a guest on CBS's Early Show, CNN Headline News and WPIX-TV (New York) Morning News. Nixon also conducted a satellite media tour with more than 10 local television affiliates across the country and the FOX Network's Good Day Live and participated in live interviews on both CNBC and CNNfn. EXTRA, Inside Edition, WNYW-TV, the Associated Press, US Weekly magazine, In-Touch magazine, AM New York and Splash News Service all attended the event. |
