AmeriCares President and CEO, Curt Welling unveiled a ground-breaking health care worker safety program at the Clinton Global Initiative

This is the first year AmeriCares has been involved in the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting, which brings together a remarkable group of the world's most distinguished leaders from government, business and civil society to examine today's most pressing global challenges and transform that awareness into tangible action.

This week, on behalf of AmeriCares, I had opportunities to talk with a number of people about global health challenges and the transformative capacity of nonprofits to develop and implement sustainable solutions. It’s been an excellent chance to share information about the work AmeriCares does to bring medicines and medical supplies to people in need, as well as to explore new alliances and partnerships.

On Thursday, AmeriCares commitment to CGI, “Health Care Worker Safety,” was one of the few selected to be featured in a session with President Clinton. We’re proud of our $3.6 million commitment to addressing health worker safety in Tanzania. The program is designed to train nearly 2,000 health care workers and medical students serving over 200,000 patients a year at Bugando Medical Center in Tanzania. To learn more about this commitment, please continue to visit the news section of our site. We’ll share highlights and results as it is implemented in early 2009.

You can help us carry out our life-saving work. Please donate now.

AmeriCares is approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (C) (3) tax-exempt organization, and all donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. AmeriCares Federal Identification Number (EIN) is 061008595.
