AmeriCares Medical Aid Arrives in Gaza

AmeriCares Sending Aid to Earthquake Victims in Pakistan

AmeriCares is sending relief shipments to Pakistan to help survivors of a 6.5-magnitude earthquake that left at least 300 dead and more than 800 people injured. Damage and pollution of water systems and wells have caused an acute shortage of safe drinking water; and with it greater risk of disease outbreaks. Almost 90% of survivors have no access to safe drinking water in the areas hit hardest by the quake.



Pakistan’s Earthquake Victims to Receive AmeriCares Aid

AmeriCares emergency response experts are planning relief shipments for Pakistan to help survivors of a 6.5-magnitude earthquake that left at least 215 dead and scores of people injured. Fighting the Cholera Outbreak in Iraq

Emergency Relief to Iraq for Cholera Outbreak

Some 30,000 people in Iraq have become seriously ill with cholera and other forms of dehydrating watery diarrhea which has spread through the northern part of the country. When IMC, the nonprofit organization working on the ground in Iraq, made an urgent request for help, AmeriCares immediately donated IV solutions and purchased other medicines and medical supplies to treat the disease.



Airlifting Aid to Lebanon

AmeriCares is mobilizing an airlift to Lebanon, that will arrive in Beirut tomorrow, bringing more than 15 tons of essential medicines and relief supplies to help ease the critical humanitarian situation. The airlift will leave from Amman, Jordan and is carrying medicines, medical and disaster relief supplies including antibiotics, analgesics, and other aid valued at $2 million. An AmeriCares emergency response team is accompanying the flight.



Helping in Syria

As the crisis in the Middle East continues, the humanitarian situation is increasingly critical, especially for refugees fleeing into neighboring Syria. AmeriCares Emergency Response Manager Jonathan Hodgdon is in Syria, preparing for AmeriCares relief shipments that will arrive shortly. Hundreds of thousands of Lebanese have sought safety here from the recent bombings. Weeks of violence now means months, if not years, of recovery. AmeriCares' contribution to the relief effort will ensure that these refugees have access to essential medicines and basic healthcare treatments. AmeriCares relief in Syria will be distributed through Life for Relief and Development, a nongovernmental organization that has partnered with AmeriCares previously.



Crises in the Middle East

While the Middle East continues to erupt in violence, the humanitarian situation of those living in many countries in the area grows more desperate by the day. AmeriCares has announced the opening of a dedicated Middle East Relief Fund to provide humanitarian aid to the many people affected and displaced by this intensifying conflict.
