Christoph Gorder is an experienced humanitarian aid professional with more than ten years of work experience in the field. As Vice President of Emergency Response, Christoph oversees the day-to-day operations of AmeriCares Emergency Response program, where he is responsible for coordinating the organization's relief efforts in the wake of natural and manmade disasters around the world and in the United States. His work spans beyond the immediate response phase of a disaster and encompasses significant multi-year reconstruction projects aimed at rebuilding and supporting access to health care long after a disaster strikes.
Since joining AmeriCares in 1998, Christoph has managed large-scale disaster relief projects in more than a dozen countries across the globe. He has coordinated responses to major, high-profile catastrophic events such as the Southeast Asia tsunami, the Sichuan Province earthquake in China, Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar, Hurricane Katrina; and since 2004, has led humanitarian relief efforts in Darfur, Sudan and neighboring Chad, delivering medical aid to people displaced by the ongoing violence.
Christoph also oversees all aspects of AmeriCares global programs, including optimizing gift-in-kind medical and pharmaceutical donations to effectively match donations to meet the health care needs of our partners. He is also responsible for the management of the AmeriCares Family Clinic in El Salvador.
Raised in West Africa, Christoph has traveled extensively and lived all over the world. He received both his master's and bachelor's degrees in Hispanic language and culture from New York University. He is fluent in Spanish and French.
Christoph has appeared on CNN, Fox News, NBC's "Today" show, "NBC Nightly News" and BBC World News. He has been interviewed on CNN Radio, NPR, Voice of America, WCBS Radio and has been quoted by several major news outlets including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Reuters and The Christian Science Monitor.
