Christoph Gorder is an accomplished humanitarian aid professional with leadership skills that come from more than 10 years of work experience on the ground in major crises. As Senior Vice President of Global Program Operations, Christoph leads global program activities beginning with AmeriCares Emergency Response program, where he is responsible for coordinating the organization's relief efforts in the wake of natural and manmade disasters around the world and in the United States. Beyond his "first-on-the-ground" record bringing aid to disaster victims, he has built and directed a global supply and distribution system that delivers nearly $1 billion of medicines and supplies to a network of institutional partners in over 90 countries, meeting immediate needs and supporting long- term rebuilding efforts.
Since joining AmeriCares in 1998, Christoph has managed large-scale disaster relief projects in more than a dozen countries across the globe, responding to major catastrophic events such as the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the Southeast Asia tsunami, the Sichuan Province earthquake in China, Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar, Hurricane Katrina; and since 2004, has led humanitarian relief efforts in Darfur, delivering medical aid to people displaced by the ongoing violence.
In addition to leading the globalization of the organization's resource acquisition and the enhancement of its medical expertise, Christoph has developed and directed innovative health-care initiatives such as AmeriCares Family Clinic in El Salvador.
Raised in West Africa, Christoph has traveled extensively and lived all over the world. He received both his master's and bachelor's degrees in Spanish and Latin American Literatures and Cultures from New York University. He is fluent in Spanish and French.
Christoph has appeared on CNN, Fox News, NBC's "Today" show, "NBC Nightly News" and BBC World News. He has been interviewed on CNN Radio, NPR, Voice of America, WCBS Radio and has been quoted by several major news outlets including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Reuters and The Christian Science Monitor.
