Wildfires in East Tennessee have burned more than 17,000 acres, destroyed nearly 1,700 homes and claimed 14 lives. As of December 5, more than 14,000 people were forced to evacuate and as many as 150 people remain in shelters throughout Sevier County. Americares is working with partners and sending shipments to support response efforts. The fires, described as the state's largest in 100 years, are believed to be human-caused.
